Frugal February

Image
I have never been on a spending ban but always wanted to try it. I already decided not to buy any make-up or skin care product this year unless I have finished everything related in my stash (like using soaps after finishing shower gels). Frugal February idea appealed to me I decided to make my own rules :) - Don't buy any clothes, shoes, bags, accessories and other stuff you don't REALLY need - Don't buy any non-alcoholic drinks, just drink tea and water - Absolutely no make-up, shampoos, soaps etc. - No household chemicals, use what you have and improvise if you run out of something. You will be surprised how little you actually need - No magazines, books, DVDs, iPad apps - No pre-packaged food, it is too expensive and quite often is very unhealthy I am still going to eat out, go to Movies and attend other social activities. I also plan to de-clutter as much as possible. I am planning to list at least 30 items on eBay and donate another huge bag of clothes tha

My favorite things ATM - Hair related

Image
I decided to share with you my favourite hair-related items. I still can't decide which shampoo and conditioner I like the best, so I'll leave them out. 1. GHD Hair Straightener doesn't need introduction. I'm pretty sure all of you at least heard about it. Even though I have straight hair it still works well for me. It makes it more polished and neat plus I can create curls and waves with it. I don't like when Hair Dressers use it on me though. They tend to drag it straight down making my hair limp and flat. I prefer to straighten only ends and my top section (I lift up around roots). It gives my fine hair more volume and it looks more natural. 2. Vidal Sassoon Wave Magic is great for creating waves. I prefer waves to curls as they look neater and easier to create. I have converted to clamp-less hair curlers, it only took me couple of goes to master the technique. It comes with heat resistant (but not proof!) glove and it has few different temperature options.

"Bellabox" January 2012 edition

Image
This month I also got a Bellabox pack in addition to ILoveThisBox. January's there is "Out with the old, in with the new" First thing I noticed was very pleasant herbal/citrus scent. It was Sparoma Organic natural wax Candle in Lemon Myrtle. It is a small tealight candle but I could smell it 2 metres away. I might keep it in linen cupboard to make my sheets smell really nice :) Second item was Puretopia Hand Cream (75 ml). I use hand creams a lot especially in winter. Apparently it doesn't have any "nasty chemicals". I believe this is a full size product and it retails for $9.95 I got another lip balm this months and this one is from Pangea Organics. It is pretty big (7g) and retails for $17.95. Mine is Pyreness Lavender with Cardamom. I really like this scent for some reason, even though it is not your typical lip balm scent. I got just one sample of La Perla EDT (some people got two), mine is J'Aime. I like taking fragrance samples with me when I&

So this is my first "ILoveThisBox" parcel. There are many similar services out there that will send you 4-6 products for a monthly fee of around $15. I've tried "Bellabox" and "Lust Have It" and was happy with them. They are great value as quite often you will get at least one full sized product in them worth over $15. I've picked it up this afternoon January theme is "Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi" This month you get five full size products (!) Revlon Matte Suede Nail Polish in Emerald City RRP $13.95 Gorgeous matte jewel green, unfortunately I got it few months ago and paid full price for it :( Revlon Luxurious Colour Eyeliner in Rich Mink RRP $23.95 Very versatile shade of cool dark brown. I'll get a lot of use out of this one ILoveThisBox Angular Eye Shadow Brush RRP $19.95 OK quality, but still going to do its job Olive Strawberry Lip Balm RRP $7.95 All-natural product, made from Autralian olives and botanical

A walk in the park.

Image
I always enjoy going for walks, especially around beautiful parks. Roma Street Parklands are my favorite I always take my time and admire beautiful flowers and plants AM PM Roma Street Parklands located 15 minutes away (walking) from CBD centre. So city shopping + lunch (usually sushi) + walk around Roma St Parklands = day well spent.

2012

Happy New Year everyone! For some reason I am super excited about 2012. I love January, work isn't as busy so it is time for me to relax and unwind. I did something new to celebrate 2012 by going camping! I've been camping once before and it was 10 years ago. I wasn't expecting much but I really enjoyed it. We went to Girraween National Park near Stanthorpe, QLD Girraween National Park is a part of Granite Belt therefore rocks of different forms and sizes predominate the landscape. The wildlife was diverse too, we saw many different species of birds, kangaroos and possums. You can also find lots of pretty wild flowers, particularly in spring. Since this National Park is elevated (900m above sea level) it can get pretty cold, especially at night. So don't forget warm clothes if you decide to go there :)
