OPI The Amazing Spider-man Mini Collection

OPI recently released new collection dedicated to a new Spider-man movie (yep, another one)
I fell in love with two colours and was very happy to find out that they come in mini versions so I ordered Mini collection from US

Into the Night - This perfect midnight blue was made for prowling.
I really like thigh bright blue. It has slight purple undertones but it makes it more vivid. The formula is a bit thin so I needed three coats to get decent coverage.

Number One Nemesis - Show your metal in this sparkling nickel.
Looks familiar? Yes, it is a dupe of Chanel Graphite. I already have Graphite and will do a post soon comparing them two. This nail polish is simply gorgeous. Indoors it looks like steel grey with olive shimmer but under fluorescent lights or in the sun the shimmer comes alive and you can see different colours in it. Love, love, love it!
Just Spotted the Lizard! - Be seen in this reptilian yellow-green.
Yes, it is another dupe of Chanel nail polish (Peridot). I missed out on Peridot but was knew that sooner or later some other nail polish manufacturer will release something very similar. I was thrilled to see this duo-chrome in this collection. It is a gorgeous shade of olive green with gold. The formula is great, it went on smooth and was opaque in just two coats.
Your Web or Mine? - The perfect pink for sticky situations.
This nail polish has very good formula - smooth, non-streaky, fast drying. However I am still puzzled why OPI included this very "mature" shade into Spider-man collection. I will give this nail polish to my mum because it is just not my shade.

Buyers Beware - Fake OPI nail polish!

Fake anything especially make-up makes me very angry!

Yesterday I was browsing Ebay because I wanted to get some OPI nail polishes and came across few clearly fake ones.

I got few OPIs from Ebay and never had an issue. Mine came from US sellers who charged US retail prices for their polishes. They sold lots and lots of them and seemed to specialize in nail products.

Yesterday I came across few lots of "OPI" nail polishes. I saw fair dew lots from sellers who don't particularly specialize in nail products. They were "factory seconds" and were missing a label. The shades were very random and I never saw those shades in OPI collections. However I know that some counterfeit OPIs will have a lable with colour name on it.

I was fortunate enough and never got a fake OPI nail polish. So I will show you what a REAL one looks like.

1. The front of the bottle
Note the writing. There are some variations between old and new editions of OPI but the writing at the front is the same. The letters shouldn't be smudged and shouldn't come off easily.

2. The back of the bottle should look like this
or like this (new vs old edition)
3. The label and serial number
The label should have two layers (however sometimes the top can peel off but you can still recognise the bottom layer). The top layer peel off, it should have ingredients listed on reverse side. The bottom layer looks like this.
Note that the top layer has a serial number and the bottom layer has shade name and number. The serial number should match the one printed on the bottle.
4. Two metal balls. You can see them on the picture above

5. The lid
This is how the top of the lid looks like. Note a small indentation on letter P.
Also the lid doesn't sit flash, there is a small gap between the lid and the bottle.
and this is what it looks like inside.

6. The brush.
This is what OPI pro wide brush looks like. I don't know if you can see or not but there is "OPI" written at the base of the brush. Note that the bristles only taper slightly.

I just hope we won't be flooded with fake OPIs like we were with fake MACs recently. What makes me sick is that some  "deal of the day" companies were selling fakes too.

China Glaze The Ten Man, For Audrey + OPI Black Shatter

I really like China Glaze nail polishes. Most of them have very good formulas, come in variety of cool finishes and generally dry quick and last long.

Usually I order them online but today I found some at DFO Brisbane store called Cosmetics Fragarance Direct for $7 (glitter and crackle were $10). They didn't have a huge range (maybe 30 shades) but apparently they are going to get more in.

I've picked up one called The Ten Man which is a pale silver with fine silver glitter.
It is quite sheer but lovely nail polish. I've got two coats on that swatch.

On my nail today I am wearing China Glaze For Aurdey which is I must say one of the most popular and loved CG polishes. Plus I've got OPI Black Shatter over the top.

This was the first time I've used Shutter and it worked well for me. I applied one coat and used one stroke of the brush.

I also had a haircut today (finally). I am trying to grow my hair long and found that my regular Hair Dresser would take way too much off and give me lots of layers (circa 2004) so I needed to find a new one...badly! I wasn't sure if I prepared to pay $100+ for a hair cut at Oscar Oscar so I went to aka. Togninis. I got exactly what I asked for. My hair is still long with minimal layers plus I got a side swept fringe which sits perfectly and suits me well. Very happy! Now I just have to make a commitment and have regular trims. Do you think regular trims allow you to grow your hair longer?

ASOS: River Island pink skinny jeans

I really wanted a pair of coloured pants or jeans but couldn't find one that was either reasonably priced or of decent quality. Most of lower end jeans were either too thin, too low or too unflattering. Then I found this pair on ASOS and really liked what I saw.
I love the colour, length and cut. I just had my finders crossed hoping that fabric won't be too thin or stretchy.

I waited till they had sale (15% off) and ordered myself a pair. They came down to $43.
I received them today!
I am very happy with them!
They are true to size, don't cut in anywhere (no muffin top!), fabric is quite decent (not too thin but not too stiff either) and have nice pockets and buttons.
The colour is perfect too - bright candy pink. Pinks can be very tricky, certain shades can look cheap and/or tacky. This one is very wearable :)
I only had two small issues. The zipped was a bit stiff bit it was easily fixed by rubbing dry soap bar along the metal part. Plus you have to be careful with underwear choices because dark and bright colours will show through (nudes are ok tho).

Overall I am very happy and can't wait to wear them with white top and nude wedges!

I would love to try other River Island pieces. I like these jeans as well.

Lust Have It May 2012

Yay, I received my Lust Have  It box today!

When I opened the parcel I noticed very nice minty scent...it was
1. Lush "Dirty Soap". Like many other Lush products this soap smells so good! Very minty and refreshing, perfect for waking me up.

2. Evo Therapist Shampoo and Conditioner. I got a hair mask sample from this brand before and thought it was quite good. Looking forward to trying these two.
3. Nicole by OPI nail polish. This polish was easy to apply and it dried quickly. I like this fun purple colour. However it doesn't have the same shiny finish like the original OPI nail polishes.
4. ModelCo Lip Gloss in Strip Tease. This lip gloss is quite nice, I like subtle peachy pink shade. It has pleasant subtle scent, feels moisturising on lips and has attached mirror. It is full size too!!!

5. Calvin Klein Sheer Beauty EDT sample. I like that they have included a perfume sample in this lot. The scent itself is a very generic fruity floral. Some people might really like it but it is a bit boring for my taste.
6. Caron Bump Eraser 30 ml. I was actually considering purchasing this product as I occasionally get ingrown hair after shaving/waxing. So I am very excited about this one!
7. Bioderma Make-up remover for eyes and lips. I haven't seen a make-up remover quite like this one, it is clear like water and odourless.
and everything was packed inside this pink make-up bag.

Overall I was quite happy with content. I was a bit worried that LHI might go downhill like other similar brands but once again it delivered great product! I think they are all 8 items will be used and worth well over $15.
Well done!

Today I received...Lanvin Eclat d'Arpege Perles!

I know that I already have lots of perfumes but I couldn't resist  Lanvin Eclat d'Arpege Perles.
I finished a bottle of the original Eclat d'Arpege last year. I never got sick of it while I had it and once it was gone I missed that familiar scent. It was also a subtle fragrance but on me it would last all day. I also received lots of complements while wearing it.

So when I was 2011 Limited Edition version on strawberrynet I got it without hesitation. It was on special and I paid around $30 for 50 ml.

It smells very familiar to the original one, maybe with more dominant tea note.
Top notes - lemon and lilac
Heart notes - peony, peach blossom & green tea leaves
Base notes - white cedar, white musk & amber

I love pearly shimmery bottle too. Can't wait to wear it tomorrow!

My favorite things ATM - Facial Skincare

It has been a while since I've done my top 10. I am currently reviewing my routine and returning to some tried and tested products.
I have combination skin and can get break outs if I don't use right products. Therefore I am not too keen to experiment a lot with skincare particularly if it contains oil. I am also prone to congested pores and if I use something that clogs them I get small pimples all over my forehead.

1. Clinique Rinse-off Foaming Cleanser. I was given a set of Clinique skincare 10 years ago and out of all other products I likes this one the best. I've tried few other make-up removers/cleansers but keep coming back to this one. I wear make-up every day so it is important that my cleanser removes all my make-up and doesn't irritate my eyes. This one ticks all the boxes. It is gentle on my skin and doesn't burn my eyes, it foams really well and removes make-up better than any other foaming cleanser I've tried.
2. Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Cleansing Foam. This product is great for clearing up my skin and preventing break outs. I love the pump bottle and gentle foam. By itself it won't remove all the dirt and make-up so I use it after Foaming Cleanser.
3. The Body Shop Facial Buffer. This little tool is so simple yet so effective! I felt like I needed something very exfoliating yet gentle to clear my congested skin. At first i wanted to get a brush but Sales Assistant recommended this tool to me. It is a round "sponge" with rough surface that is meant to be used with your cleanser. Just after one week of using it I noticed the biggest difference! It costs under $5 and lasts me for couple of months. I just hand it on the tube of my cleanser so it dries well after each use. If you want to save lots of money on exfoliatiors and/or have skin that reacts to products get this little tool, you won't regret it!
 4. Estee Lauder Idealist Skin Refiner Serum. This product was recommended to me over 7 years ago and it was a love at first use. It makes your skin velvety, absorbs quickly and makes it better! It helps to make my skin clear as well. I must admit it was a close tie between EL Idealist and Clinique Turnaround Skin Renewer. They are very similar but I think Idealist makes my sin more velvety after use.
5. Estee Lauder Hydrationist Moisturiser. This moisturiser is great. It feels very refreshing and light, absorbs quickly and is oil-free. It doesn't leave a film on my skin like other gel-like moisturisers. I am currently using Clinique Moisture Surge but it doesn't fully sinks into my skin. I will go back to this one once I've finished it.
 6. Clarins Multi-Active Night Creme. I was recommended this product when I was 24. At first I questioned if I should use it as I gathered from the title that it is anti-aging creme. Sales assistant however re-assured me that this creme is more for prevention rather than "cure". I got a 15 ml sample first and loved it. Despite rich texture it didn't break me out. My skin looked very pampered in the morning. I don't have any ATM but planning to get some. It has very pleasant scent too, however beware if you prefer unscented products.
7. Nivea Facial Cleansing Wipes. I love these wipes and use them when I am too lazy or cold to remove make-up by cleansing my face. They are also great if you are travelling. They have textured surface so they do a very good job at removing make-up and dirt from your face. Plus they are very inexpensive and you can get them at almost any supermarket or pharmacy.

8. Clinique Clarifying Lotion No 2. I must admit that I don't use toner very often. However when my skin needs extra clean I use this lotion. It is quite potent and does give me mild irritation so I wouldn't use it daily. It is good though for drying out pimples and controlling oily skin.
9. Nivea Exfoliating Scrub. I couldn't decide which scrub I prefer, they all give me very similar results (apart from Clinique 7-day scrub, it broke me out like there is no tomorrow). I picked this one as it is effective, gentle and inexpensive. When it comes to scrub IMO you don't have to spend a fortune to get good results. I love how it smells too!
10. Natio Clay and Plant Face Mask Purifier. This is one of the first Natio products I have purchased. Ten years ago they range was quite different and I liked it better. I am glad they've kept this little gem. It is a clay mask that "mops up" oils and impurities and makes you skin feel very clean and refreshed. It sets on your face and I feel really pampered when I use it as it has pleasant herbal scent. Best of all it is still under $20.

Glasshouse candle - "Bora Bora"

I was given this candle by my friend and I am currently burning it...
http://www.glasshousefragrances.com
It smells divine. Very fresh and not overpowering yet I can smell it throughout my house. I love the Orange Blossom note, it makes my house smell "clean" :)

The candle burns very evenly but a bit faster then my other candles, probably because it is made from food grade paraffin wax as opposed to soy wax. Thats the only issue I have with this product, I wish they started using soy wax like other high-end candle manufacturers.

Diorskin Forever Foundation

Over a week ago I was attending a special event and wanted my skin to look flawless. Unfortunately my current YSL foundation didn't have enough coverage. So I went through my samples stash and found new Diorskin Forever Flawless Perfection Fusion Wear foundation.
I must say that I was very impressed with this foundation. It had thin consistency, was very pigmented and felt light on my skin.
I remember using the original Diorskin Forever foundation. It was good but not great due to being very heavy and looking like a mask. I am very delighted that the formula has been improved!
It covered all imperfections well however it had very natural looking finish. I think I've finally found my HG foundation! I am usually NC25 in MAC so 020 Light Beige was a good match for my medium-fair skin.
I've ordered one through Strawberrynet (they had 10% off make-up not that long ago) and it came down to $44.50! I just sincerely hope that it won't break me out.

I also craved big lashes so I tested Clarins Wonder Volume Mascara (I had small tube from GWP). I loved it! It made my lashes "fluffy" but not heavy or glued together. I will definitely buy it when I use up few mascaras in my stash.
