Boxing Day Sales 2013...part 2

When I went shopping on 26/12 it was way too busy to browse properly...so I had to go again.
My first stop was Chemist Warehouse. The had 50% off Maybelline, Rimmel and Revlon

I got Kate Moss for Rimmel matte lipstick in 107 - deep burgundy red,
Maybelline Master Liner in Brown (I had this one before and it was pretty good, plus I find brown liners are more flattering for me than black ones).
Nivea Facial Cleansing wipes, my staple...and...
Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple

...the most flattering sheer red even I can pull off (thanks to Laura)

A lot of beauty bloggers been writing about Lush sale. I wasn't a frequent Lush shopper but discovered few amazing goodies on Lush sale.

Rose Jam Shower Gel is a clear winner! It is one of the most gorgeously scented body products I've come accross...smells like Turkish Delight and Berries. Get it while you can, it is a LE product.
I also got couple of bath bombs, orange soap and in-shower body butter (which I tried today and really liked it)...everything was 1/2 price.

I love rare and niche perfumes and been lusting over Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo range...I found Bergamotto di Calabria, Cipresso di Toscana and Fico di Almafi on sale for $49 each at David Jones. I got all three :) They are well-composed sheer summer scents inspired by places in Italy <3

My last stop was L'Occitane. I missed out on Fleur D'Or and Acacia pack last time so I was happy to find out that it was re-stocked. Plus I picked up Cedre and Oranger soap because I love that scent but don't want to commit yet to a full bottle.

Boxing Day 2013

This morning Brisbane CBD appeared to be deceivingly sleepy and empty. We found parking straight away and went for a relaxing stroll through empty streets. It was nice until we reached the mall. It was crazy busy and several shops even had lines going out the door. I couldn't handle endless lines and crowds so I just went to few shops and got things I had my eye on for sometime.

My first stop was L'Occitane. I love their products and perfumes so I knew I would walk out with a thing or two. I ended up getting....

1. Delice Des Fleurs EDT 75ml...$29, reduced from $58
Smells like sugared violets and roses. The sugar is quite dry and powdery as opposed to being sticky so you end up with gourmand fragrance lingering on your skin. I am not a huge fan of sweet scents because most of them smell too cheap or suffocating but this one is very very yum and pleasant. I am in love with very French frosted bottle too.

2. Eau Captivante Cologne 50 ml...$28, reduced from $40
Very refreshing herbal citrus scent. Initially you get a big burst of lime but then it settles to a bergamot and mint middle notes. I think it is perfect for current Brisbane weather. It doesn't have good staying power but I don't mind spraying it on myself several times per day.

3. Rose Champs Solid Perfume...$9.60, reduced from $16.00
I find most L'Occitane Rose scents or too strong for my liking. This one is much nicer and fresher than the rest. The rose is still quite prominent but it is blended with grass and citrus making the scent more modern and refreshing. I got a small solid perfume because I don't want to be committed to a whole bottle of this scent.

My next stop was Priceline and they had 40% off skincare so I got...

4. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream pack...$14.99, reduced from $24.99
I gave eight hour cream to my mum and kept the lip balm.

5. Bioderma Solution Micellaire 250ml...$17.99, reduced from $39.99
Micellar Solution became a must-have in my skincare routine. I much prefer it to make-up removers as I find them too oily and some toners which can be harsh and drying. It looks like water and feels like water, but it removes make-up as well as good quality make-up remover. My first one was from Vichy but unfortunately I haven't seen it in Australia yet. Bioderma was one of the first brands to release it and it supposed to be very good.

6. Garnier Body Tonic Sugar Scrub...$7.20, reduced from $11.99
This is my 4th tube of this stuff, I always seem to come back to Garnier Body scrub. I mainly use it before applying self-tanners. Lots of other body scrubs seems to have oily or cream base and while they leave your skin nicely moisturised after use they can interfere with self-tanners. This one has a soapy base so it doesn't leave a residue on your skin plus the particle size is perfect and it leaves your skin smooth and clean. Plus I can't get enough of yummy citrus scent.

What did you ended up getting?

Perfumes under $30...my top 10 picks!

Festive season is a great time to buy yourself or someone a new perfume. So many retailers are offering high-end perfumes at heavily discounted prices. I still think Chemist Warehouse has one of the widest ranges at cheapest prices. Plus they will only charge $2 for shipping untill 08/12! BTW I am not sponsored by them, just wanted to spread the word because the offers are too good :)

So here are my top picks

1. Versace Yellow Diamond (link)
Sparkly fruity-citrus scent that is quite light so perfect for summer or work

2. Bvlgari Omnia Green Jade (link)
Gorgeous light fresh green scent, probably my favourite out of the lot. It is subtle but has good lasting power.

3. Ralph by Ralph Lauren (link)
Very playful and fruity scent, reminds me of my teenage years. Will make a nice present for someone in their late teens - early 20's

4. DKNY Red Delicious (link)
This perfume smells like apples and red berries (it is similar to the original but a bit warmer and sweeter). It has good lasting power and silliage.

5. Elizabeth Arden Green Tea (link)
I always seem to have Green Tea in my collection. It smells like sweetened tea and lemons, very refreshing and perfect fro summer! It doesn't last very long but generous bottle makes up for it.

6. YSL Baby Doll (link)
This was one of the first perfumes I got myself (I was about 17 at a time).  It is very gentle but easily recognisable. It smells like roses and sweet berries to me.

7. Champ-Elysees by Guerlain (link)
I can't believe this gorgeous classic scent is selling for only $29.95! It is a strong floral scent so it may not appeal for under 20's but I would definitely get this one for my mum.

8. BVLGARI Rose Essentielle (link)
Beautiful and delicate rose scent. To me it smells very "French" and pretty. The rose in it is not overpowering plus they added some citrus to the mix to make it fresher.

9. Lovery by Sarah Jessica Parker (link)
Gorgeous, sexy and feminine scent (it reminds me of Narcisso Rodrigues for her, but a little bit sweeter). It has a good combination of musk, florals and spices in it.

 10. BVLGARI Mon Jasmin Noir (link)
Beautiful white floral scent with a hint of sweetness. I think it will appeal to a lot of people because it so well composed.

Bellabox November 2013

This month Bellabox arrived a bit later than usual (I got mine yesterday).
The theme of this month is "Refreshing Beauty". I though it would be a bit more Christmas-y since we are less than month away now.

 There was four skincare items

1. Puretan Purebronze Light-Medium Lotion 15 ml (value $2.25)
I like small tubes of self-tanner because they are great for holidays. This one is tinted and has very nice scent plus you have to wash it off in one hour.

2. Wilde Organics E'Lustrous Shea (value $4)
I gather it is a body butter. It is meant to be all organic and natural but I am not a huge fan. a) The scent is not the most pleasant and I like my products to smell nice...and b)RRP $40 for 150 ml? I can get some organic shea and coconut oil from health food store and make my own for way less. I can see myself using it on my feet and elbows.

3. Indio SOS Gel - Redness Rescue (value $14.40)
I don't really suffer from excessive redness. I only get rosy cheeks if it is very hot or I've been doing cardio. Will give it a try though.

4. Bump Eraser Medi Paste
I got a full sized product last year in one of the beauty boxes. It is not as miraculous as they claim it is but I find that it acts as a good antiseptic of you have an existing ingrown hair.

plus I received two make-up items.

5. Simple Eye Make-up Corrector Pen (full size RRP$11.99)
I don't usually do boo-boos with my mascara but it will be very handy when I apply liquid eye liner. Probably my favourite product out of the lot

6. Bellabox Pout pencil in Colar Me Maybe (full size RRP$14.95)
It is unscented lip crayon, very similar to Face of Australia ones (maybe a bit more pigmented). It is nice but I wouldn't pay $15 for it.
Overall value...$47.59
Not my favorite box as I can see myself not using 1/2 of the products in it. I've cancelled my subscription for next month as I already have too many sample to use up.

Birthday Week!

My birthday was on Tuesday, 19/11 but the celebrations continued the whole week! This is my last 20-something celebration and I got lots of love and amazing gifts from family and friends! Plus I received $20 reward from Witchery, $25 from Saba and $30 from Mimco.

My families (mum and in-laws) gifted me money but they made sure that I spent it on myself!
So I got L'Occitane goodies and Witchery Jelly Sandals

From my awesome friends I got Ciate Foil Nail Kit, Cat Pillowcases (because I am a crazy cat lady), Tea Two Set and Mini USB Salt Lamp

I gifted myself with L'Artisan Perfumeur Couer de Vertiver Sacre Fragrance and new Zelda Game

...and the most special gift was received from my husband...he got me my first ever bike!
On my actual birthday me and DH took a day off work and went to Wet'n'Wild on the Gold Coast. It was my first time there so I it was mega fun. At night we gathered for small-ish dinner with friends so the day turned out perfect.

Chemist Warehouse Sally Hansen GWP

It has been a while since I last purchased a nail polish so naturally I was really tempted when I saw Sally Hansen promo in fairly recent Chemist Warehouse catalogue.

With purchase of $20 or over you get this generous gift with purchase which includes Gem Nail polish, Crackle Top Coat, Mega Shine Top Coat (which I used to have and love but it got dropped and smashed) and a nail file.

I got two Fuzzy Coat nail polishes and Nail Polish Remover (all up cost me $21.47). Fuzzy Coats look super fun, I'll use them a lot during the upcoming holiday season.

Gem Crush is beautiful, reminds me of  Katy Perry for OPI "The one that got away" nail polish but with holo glitter.

Amazing Freebie from Oscar Oscar Hair Salon

Oscar Oscar is celebrating their birthday this months and they are giving away 50 ml Kerastase Elixir Ultime!
All you have to do is take a selfie and tag them on Instagram (go to http://www.oscaroscar.com.au/ for T&C)

I was very close to purchasing this oil couple of weeks ago when strawberrynet had their daily special and it was discounted (got sold out very quickly). It is a lot lighter than the original Morrocanoil and it smells like coconut and rum! You need a tiny drop to make your hair shiny and smooth. I have fine blond straight hair and this product suits it well. I prefer the scent of the Morrocanoil but this one wins when it comes to texture.

Bellabox October 2013

Yes, I've signed up to Bellabox again. It was fun to receive a parcel filled with new products to try. I eventually unsubscribed because some boxes contained a lot of products I simply wouldn't use.

This edition of Bellabox is their 2nd anniversary addition so I knew it would be good. Plus L'Occitane (one of my favorite skincare brands) joined them!

Here is what I got in my box:

1. Alfaparf Diamond Shampoo 60 ml and Conditioner 50 ml (value $11.60)
Illiminating shampoo for normal hair that is free from Sulphates, Parabens, Parrafins, Mineral Oil, Coloring and Allergens. Comes is very generous trial size.

2. L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream 10 ml (value $2.60)
I've tried this hand cream before and it is one of the best. Good handbag size.

4. Bioderma Sebum Exfoliating Gel 15 ml (value $3.75)
I've heard a lot of good things about Bioderma and been recently obsessing over French skincare as I find it suits my European skin well. Plus I'm sure I'll need it during summer because I tend to get more breakouts.

5. Beyonce Heat 2ml sample (value $1)
Comes in cool dab-on sample vial and was wrapped like a candy. It smells nice - fruity opening (mainly peach) with sweet musky middle notes. Not something I would rush out to buy but I'll still wear it.

6. Jacqueline Burchell Nail Enamel duo (value $17.95)

Cure small nail polished packed with small and large glitter particles. I would be keen to layer then over other colours.

7. Maybelline BB cream sample.
Haven't had good luck with BB creams so I will be keen to tryi this one.

Total value - approx. $37...not bad for $15 membership.

Recent Purchases

Rapid change of seasons made me realise that I need (or rather want) to get few things.
I was in Singapore couple of months ago where I discovered Acqua Di Parma Blu Mediterraneo range

I sprayed Arancia di Capri on my wrist and couldn't stop sniffing it throughout the day. I was exploring the city so I didn't end up going back to buy it. I like to wear my fragrances for couple of hours anyway because some of them can go from nice to nasty on my skin.

Couple of week I saw Acqua di Parma at Queen's Plaza David Jones and couldn't resist getting Arancia di Capri. I love all of them and it was hard to choose but I couldn't resist sweet citrus scent of Arancia.

It is describes as "Sunny as this radiant and relaxing fragrance. Its soothing notes of perfume produce a deep sensation of harmony, as when contemplating Capri’s idyllic landscape. Top notes bring us juicy freshness of orange, Sicilian mandarin, bergamot and luminous, bitter grapefruit. A heart is composed of petit grain and cardamom, while a base carries notes of caramel and musk"

I also got Acqua Noble Iris 7.5 ml roll-on as a gift. It is a citrus floral scent which is also great for spring/summer.

I am going camping soon so I needed a long sleeve yet light top in case it gets cooler at night.

To my delight Country Road outlet had this one for $14.90 (due to tiny hole) down from $59.95

I also got this Country Road dress for the upcoming friend's wedding
I got it from eBay for $80 (sold at CR for $149.95)

September Empties

As you can see September was a very "productive" months for me. I managed to use 11 items and freed some much needed space.

1. Nivea Exfoliating Wipes

They rubbery texture that supposed to exfoliate but unfortunately they don't remove make-up well. Won't buy them again.

2. KMS Moist Repair Conditioner

One of the best conditioners I've tried. Could easily rival some hair masks on the market. It made my hair very soft and smelled very nice. Will buy it again once I finish the lot I currently have.

3. David Jones Body Wash for Men with Pepper and Cashmere

I got it in previous DJ "sampler tote". I actually likes this product, it didn't irritate or dry out my and had pleasant spicy scent. Not sure if I get it again as there are a lot of good body washes within similar price range.

4. Formula 10.0.6 Purifying Face Wipes

Very generic wipes, didn't remove make-up as well as I would like them to. Won't get them again.

5. Guerlain Parure Extreme Foundation
I had this foundation for over 6 months and did a review on it few months ago. It is a gorgeous product and one of the best true long-lasting foudations I've tried so I will definitely buy it again even though it is on expensive side.

6. L'Occitane Verbena Body Wash
I got a small 50 ml sample and kept it in my gym bag. I love using it after workout because it makes me feel energised and fresh. I would make it my regular summer shower gel if it wasn't so expensive.

7. Nivea Daily Essentials Wipes
I've been buying them for year. They are one of the most effective facial wipes I've tried so far. I do believe however that the old version was a bit better.

8. Clarins Toner with Iris (normal/combination skin)
I took a small 50ml bottle with me while I was travelling so I still had some when I returned. It is a good alcohol-free toner that won't burn or irritate skin yet it helped to keep it clear. Will definitely get it again.

9. Wella SP Hydrate mask
I think this is my 3rd or 4th tub. I love this stuff, it hydrates my hair well and keeps it in decent condition.

10. Clarins Multi-Active Night Cream
I really don't understand why some companies re-formulate good product. I used the original Multi-Active "prevention plus" night creme couple of years ago and loved it to bits. I got a smaller tube in GWP and was a bit disappointed. It didn't break me out and still moisturised well, but it lacked the original luxurious floral scent and wasn't as velvety.

11. L'Oreal Hydrafresh Body Milk Spray
I found this one in my stash so I hate to think how old it was. However it was still new and came in hygienic bottle so I used it up (plus it retained its gorgeous scent). I love using a moisturisers in a spray bottle, it is very quick and easy to apply plus they tend to absorb easily being lighter in texture. Unfortunately several companies discontinued their spray moisturisers for some unknown to me reason.  L'Oreal also used to make Oleonergy Satin Body oil which was the most gorgeous body oil I have ever tried.
