Only 2 weeks to go...

I can't believe how fast last few months flew past. In two weeks time I'll be celebrating our wedding!

I feel like I have most things organised by now so it is just last minute bits and pieces that I have to do. I am very glad that this weekend is a long weekend!

I started my day at Oscar Oscar hairdresser in the city.

My appointment was pre-booked 8 weeks ahead. I walked in at 9 and walked out at 12 30, the service was wonderful but I nearly fell asleep. I had full head of foils and a haircut done. I never walked out disappointed, I get done what I want there :) I think it is a bit pricey to go there for routine maintenance but I don't mind spending more if i want something special.

My next mission was to find a perfect pair of earrings to wear at my wedding. Myer had absolutely nothing exciting. David Jones had few nice designer pieces but nothing I would wear to my wedding. While I was at DJ I went to check out Revlon GWP, I was prepared to buy it but SA kept ignoring me so I left empty-handed. Swarovski went completely downhill, I haven't seen anything original from them for years.

My last stop was The Babushka Ballerina bridal shop in Wintergarden...and I found these...
They are by Samantha Wills...

I fell in love with them! They are bridal yet not too traditional and boring (please excise my red ear, I haven't worn earring for a while).

They came in this gorgeous box too...

I also stopped by at Country road and picked up their signature tote bag for $37.50.
I plan to take it to the hotel with me.

Project 10 pan...Jan - March'13

I finished another lot of 10 items. It is good to see that I am making some sort of progress, I even had to buy a foaming cleaner because I had none left!

1. Dior Skinflash Concealer/Highlighter
I love this add with Monica Bellucci, her make-up is flawless here
My overall impression - The packaging was gorgeous (silver metal tube with Dior signature plus it came with silk pouch). The product itself was very similar to other pen highlighters like YSL Touche Eclat. It is good for subtle concealing and highlighting but it won't hide major imperfections.

Would I buy it again? - Yes, I am slowly becoming a fan of very light, barely-there make-up

2. Elizabeth Ardent Green Tea Shower Gel 200ml

My overall impression - Beautifully scented and refreshing shower gel that complements my beloved Green Tea Skin Scent. I picked it up in a set with 100ml Green Tea fragrance, 5ml mini plus 200ml body lotion for something like $19 at Target.

Would I buy it again? - Yes, it is thick and concentrated shower gel and makes my skin smell wonderful plus doesn't irritate it. From time to time I see big pump bottles of this shower gel on sale for around $15 so it is reasonably priced.

3. Clinique Rinse-off Foaming Cleanser

Yes, I've finished another tube of my beloved foaming cleanser! However I got Clarins one as a replacement and slowly falling in love with it...

4. Garnier Body Tonic Sugar Scrub 200ml

My overall impression - Pleasantly scented (citrus-y) foaming body scrub with medium particles.

Would I buy it again? - Yes! I went through couple of tubes of this scrub. In fact I like it better than more expensive body scrubs I've tried. I also love non-oily foaming base, perfect to use before fake tanning. It leaves my skin extra clean and super soft. It also won't break a bank and you can pick it up from your local supermarket for under $14.

5. Clarins Toning Lotion with Camomile, 50 ml
My overall impression - very mild and pleasantly scented toner. It didn't tingle my skin like a lot of other toners do but made it feel refreshed.

Would I buy it again? - Yes, yes, yes! I had a bottle sitting in my bathroom cabinet for a while and I wasn't really using it until a wise friend told me that toner will really help to clear my breakout...and it did! It seem to pick up all the grime and make-up left after cleansing and preps my skin for moisturiser.

6. Clarins Satin-Smooth Body Lotion, 100 ml
My overall impression - I am usually not a big fan of body lotions because they leave a greasy film behind, however this one absorbed quickly and made my skin satin-smooth, as promised :)
Would I buy it again? - Not sure, while I love the texture I am not a huge fan of scent. Plus it is a bit pricey.

7. Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara, full size

My overall impression - I loved the original one so I've decided to give this one a try. It came with very strange brush and the formula of the product was very different.

Would I buy it again? - No, it wasn't very good. It made my lashes clumpy and certainly not worth $40+!

8. Clinique Take The Day Off Make-up remover, 50 ml

My overall impression - Two-phase make-up remover that is very mild and unscented.

Would I buy it again? - No, it does leave a greasy film behind and doesn't remove make-up as well as some other similar products.

9. OPI Avoplex Hand and Nail Cream

My overall impression - Beautifully scented and easily absorbed hand cream. I often get asked which perfume I am wearing when I use this hand cream.

Would I buy it again? - Yes! I use hand cream a lot and this one is perfect for summer as it gets absorbed instantly. It doe a very good job at moisturising my hands too!

10. Wella Hydrate Conditioner, 200ml
My overall impression - Light yet hydrating conditioner with very mild scent.

Would I buy it again? - Most likely, it does a good job at moisturising my hair however I get a bit bored using it because it doesn't smell exciting enough for me.

My recent purchases...

A lot of shops seem to be having mid-season sales ATM. So I finally gave in and went shopping. I had few things on my wishlist and needed few basics so I ended up getting...

1. WITCHERY

Amy Nude Pumps...RRP$149.95...paid $63.96

Witchery currently has 20% off already reduced items. I really wanted these shoes when they were just got reduced to $99.95. However I saw many pairs in store and decided to wait...Then price came donw to $79.95 and with 20% off I ended up paying less than half of RRP!

I love them! They will go with almost anything, wide heel makes them very comfortable and patent leather wears a lot better than regular leather. I always had a good luck with Witchery shoes and been buying them for years.

2. COUNTRY ROAD

Country Road has 25% off already reduced items.

 Drop Shoulder T-Shirt RRP$49.95...paid $14.96
Basic loose-fitting semi-sheer tee. It is made from linen blend fabric so it flows nicely. I see myself wearing it a lot. I needed a good-fitting white tee, this one ticked all the boxes!

White Studded Sweat Tee RRP$59.95...paid $22.46

Made from thick cotton so it is perfect for Brisbane winter! I am also planning to wear it to work, teamed with skinny black pants and ballet flats

Sateen 3/4 Pant RRP$99.00...paid $44.96

I can finally wear white pants without being self-conscious! This pair fits nicely and not too see-through. I've been wearing my River Island black skinny jeggings all the time so this pair is a welcome addition to my basics range.

MYER

McQ by Alexander McQueen skirt RRP$550...paid $88.00

I wanted a nice tulle skirt for over a year now. In 2011 I started watching Sex and the City and was inspired by the tulle skirt Carrie was wearing. I found this one on the 75% off rack and it was my size! The sales lady in Myer City was very nice too and made my buy of the months even more special.

EBAY

Maurie and Eve Lapis Pants RRP$139.95...paid $52

Finally I found a pair of loose fitting print pants for under $70!

I did all this shopping with my Ebay proceeds. I've sold over 30 items in the last 30 days. I must say that the majority of my Ebay money will go towards the final wedding expenses. I can't believe it is only 3 weeks away...eek...

Weekend alone :)

My Fiancé is having his Bucks Night this weekend so I am looking forward to some "me" time!

I went to my local shopping centre and got few bits and pieces to make my weekend alone extra special

T2
I wanted XL wide tea cup so I can take my time and enjoy it for a while. This one was recommended to me and it is perfect. I love its size, shape and pattern!

I got All Sorts and Gorgeous Geisha tea bags and got Creamy Choc Chai for free! They have special promotion ATM when you spend over$50 you get a pack of loose leaf tea from their Chocolate range.
 Something to read...
I got Harper's Bazaar because it came with very cure Karen Walker necklace!

I love it...so simple yet goes with so many things. It comes in yellow too
...and I found these two for $9.95 each!
Looking forward to drinking tea, reading, cuddling with my cats, sleeping in and going to the gym this weekend!

Top 10 products under $30...Make-up

At one time I went through a phase of buying expensive make-up thinking that cheaper alternatives won't do a very good job. Yes, there are certain HG products that cost fair bit and you just have to bite a bullet and splurge on them. However I've discovered lots of great make-up items for under $30. They are also easily obtainable from Priceline, Big W, Target etc.

So here is my top 10

1. L'Oreal Color Riche Lipstick
I've been using this lipstick for years and must say that this is one of my favourite lipsticks ever! It is highly pigmented, non-drying and comes in very gorgeous shades. They retail for $21.95 but you can often get them on sale from Target, Big W and Pharmacies for $10-18

2. Bourjois Blush
Did you know that original Bourjois blush was created way back in 1863 by Alexandre Napoleon Bourjois for stage performers in Paris! 150 years later it is still a cult beauty product. It applied beautifully, blends well and comes in a huge range of shades. I think they cost around $15-20

3. Chi Chi Brow Lift Duo

It is a fairly new product. I got it when I was hunting for light pink pencil. I find light pink matte pencil is one of the most versatile highlighting products. It is perfect for highlighting under the brow, in the inner corners of the eye, lower waterline to make eyes appear bigger, bridge of the nose, cupid bow and cheek bones! It is way more natural looking and flattering than white pencil. Brow shaper is pretty good good - it is a medium taupe shade with very slight shimmer. I picked mine up from Myer for $14.95

4. Covergirl Lashblast Volume Mascara
Covergirl makes very good mascaras! This one is outstanding, it makes my lashes big big big without clumps. I picked mine up from Coles for $10. I won't be spending more that $20 on mascara anytime soon!

5. Bourjois Eye Shadows
They come in most gorgeous shades and just as good as some expensive brands. They blend well, last a long time and well pigmented. I just wish they had more matte shades. I think they cost around $15-20

6. Prestige Skin Loving Minerals Foundation
I keep buying this product over and over again! I think it reached HG status. I use it as setting powder after foundation. It has very good coverage but also gives your skin luminous finish so it doesn't look like you are wearing a mask. I highly recommend this product. It usually retails for $29.95

7. Revlon Matte Luxurious Colour Eye Pencil
I got this eye pencil in one of those Beauty Boxes I used to subscribe to last year. I started using it after finishing my Maybelline eye pencil. I must say I was pleasantly surprised, It applies well, highly pigmented and lasts all day. They retail for around $20

8. Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

This foundation is just as good as some of the higher end products except it costs a lot less. It comes in glass pump bottle, has very pleasant scent, applies well, has very beautiful dewy finish and most importantly it doesn't break me out! It has medium coverage but due to light-reflective properties it hides imperfections well. I picked mine up on sale at Big W for $13

9. Ecotools Alicia Silverstone Brush Set
Comes with a very good range of staple brushes for powder, foundation, eye shadow and eye brows plus it comes in a very pretty case. I picked mine up for $15 on sale at Priceline. I'm not sure if they still sell this set however other Ecotools brushes are great too

10. Evodia Vanilla Addict Lip Gloss

I got this lip gloss in a set with roll-on perfume from a collegue and I love them both! It is clear, non-sticky and very moisturising. It gives your lips nice sheen without being too glossy. I love pleasant scent too and I never get sick of it. I think it costs around $10

Life and Death of my Clarisonic Mia

Remember I got myself a Clarisonic Mia for my Birthday in November?

Well, it died few weeks ago. Luckily it was purchased from Myer so I got my money back (yay).

I was using it 5-7 times per week but one day it just wouldn't charge. I tried again and again but nothing happened. I was hoping that it will make my skin nice and clear before my wedding.

I can't say that I miss it. Initially my skin looked better but then it got used to it and my small breakouts on forehead came back. When it broke I haven't really noticed any changes so it was a sign that it wasn't working well for me. I'm glad that I purchased it from Myer and not from ebay or internet store, getting money back for it was the best thing ever!

My friend who used to work as Chanel Beauty SA suggested that my breakout is most likely due to sweating. She told me to clean my skin well after working out plus go the classic cleanse-tone-moisturise routine. I must admit that lately I was cleansing only at night (washing my face with water only in the morning), I was skipping the toner all together because someone told me that it is not nescessary and moisurising 2 x day.

Cleansing- toning- moisturising routine is working wonders for me! I was using my usual Clinique foaming cleanser but recently run out and switched to Clarins Foaming cleanser at night which I love-love-love. In the morning I am using Elizabeth Arden Intervene 3-in-1 cleanser, toner, primer. It is not great for removing make-up therefore perfect for AM.

I used to use alcohol-based toner to prevent pimples as a teenager. Clerasil was my favorite but I couldn't find any. So instead I got So Totally Clean toner (I think it used to be called Bonne Bell or something along those lines). The product itself is just like I remember - it cleanses skin extremely well removing remaining impurities and make-up and leaves skin refreshes. I use it only when I feel like my skin need an extra clean or if I have more pimples than usual. Otherwise I've been using Clarins alcohol-free tones with Camomile, it has very pleasant calming scent and leaves my skin feeling great.

I finish my routine with oil-free moisturiser. ATM I am alternating between Chanel Hydra Max, which is a gel-like beautifully scented moisturiser and Kiehl's Facial Fuel. The last one is actually designed for guys but I love it! It tingles my face slightly and feels very refreshing (and I am addicted to smell). It has a cream as opposed to gel consistency which is very rare with oil-free moisturisers.
